Not too long ago, San Antonio’s Blue Star Art Space was dreaming of a big new fancy building and contemporary art museumhood. These days, they’re struggling to keep art on the walls after a string of seeming bad decisions (not to mention having their roof ripped off by gale-force winds). Now the 30-member (!) board has hired one of its own to take the reins as the new director: Bill Fitzgibbons, who replaces Laurence Miller, who replaced Carla Stellweg. The scuttlebutt is that Fitzgibbons has agreed to work for peanuts in the hopes of solving some of the woes of this once-great space.
