Austin artist Tré Arens died unexpectedly in her sleep from a brain aneurysm the morning of May 8th. This from her obituary in the Austin American-Statesman: “If only she were here to write her own obituary. She would have quoted from Rumi, from New Yorker cartoons, from Nina Simone songs, from Holistic Medicines for Your Dog, from National Public Radio. Because we know Tré would want a party, friends will gather to celebrate Tré’s life at her studio 500 West St. Elmo [in Austin] on May 17th, at 5 p.m. All who can make it are invited to the celebration. Feel free to bring a dish to share along with your favorite memories, mementos and stories. Services will be in Gearhart, Oregon on Wednesday, May 14 at 11 a.m. Tré has a cousin in Portland who has volunteered to give directions to those wishing to travel to the services. His contact info is: Hal Lee 503/697-5392.”
