The Dallas Museum of Art has just been given Matthew Barney’s sculpture The Cloud Club (which “relates to” the artist’s film Cremaster 3, and which involves a sawed-in-half piano resting crookedly on a pile of potatoes). The piece will be unveiled when the Nasher Sculpture Center opens next door to the DMA, so everyone will have incentive to cross the street and have a little brush with Barney greatness. Rumor has it the sculpture cost upwards of a million dollars. (Read Janet Kutner’s article in the Dallas Morning News for the list of generous donors.)
