The Nasher Sculpture Center going up next to the Dallas Museum of Art is going to be pretty darned spectacular. Ray Nasher, developer-extraordinaire, is known for the monumental sculpture he’s got scattered around his NorthPark mall in Dallas. Word has it he wants to give Ft. Worth and all their big-deal buildings a run for their money. Picking Renzo Piano as his architect (the same guy who brought us what is still the gold standard of museum architecture in Texas, the Menil Collection), will take him a long way towards his goal of getting bums in Dallas seats, as it were. Look for the sculpture center to open this October 19th.
