Well, the DMA is indeed taking the King Tut show — it'll open next October. (Read Tyler Green's hilarious blurb on the subject.) I've always liked the DMA very much and defended it from its detractors (it beats the MFAH
for contemporary art, both in terms of the collection and the visiting
exhibits), but the Tut show, coupled with their big new educational
push, both indicate a worrisome trend that the museum might start
putting its energy into exhibits designed to do little more than put
bums in seats.
