Alfred C. Glassell Jr., fisherman and philanthopist, passed away yesterday. He was 95. In 1953 he landed the largest black marlin ever caught, 1,560-pounds, a model of which is on view at the Smithsonian Institution. On the board of trustees of the MFAH since 1970, he became its chairman in 1990. He collected West African gold and was behind the Glassell School of Art, Services will be held at 1pm Monday, November 3 at St. John the Divine, 2450 River Oaks Blvd, Houston.
