Artist Communities/Downtown Core (AC/DC), a committee of community volunteers in El Paso explores "affordable artist housing," by hosting a public presentation by Minneapolis-based ARTSPACE, "America’s leading nonprofit real estate developer for the arts" on Thursday, January 22 at 6:30 at the Philanthropy Theater, 125 Pioneer Plaza. Artspace developed Galveston’s National Hotel Artist Lofts in 2004. The strategy is to include a minimum of "affordable" live/work lofts in tony historical rehabs to qualify the project for tax breaks intended to help the poor.
