Rev. Seymour Perkins , San Antonio outsider artist and preacher, 78, died Tuesday. Perkins is best known for his eccentric house/ ministry at the corner of South Hackberry and Nevada streets, which was either a priceless piece of San Antonio culture or a haven for criminal activity, or both, which was damaged by fire last October. Arnold Aprill, a longtime collector of Perkins’ work said of the self-taught artist "He was just so insightful some of the time and other times I really couldn’t figure out what he was talking about.” A viewing will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday at Carter Taylor Williams Mortuary, 601 Center St. The funeral is 11:30 am on Tuesday at Bright and Morning Star Baptist Church, 547 K St.
