Celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing in multimedia, live. Legendary Joshua Light Show teams up with legendary electronic-rock band Silver Apples for a performance featuring the Houston premiere of Silver Apples’ legendary 1969 composition, Mune Toon. Friday, April 17, 8 pm at the Museum of Fine Art, Houston. $10, $12 at the door. It’s part of this year’s Media Archeology festival, sponsored by the Aurora Picture Show, which is exploring the history of live multimedia performance. On Saturday, April 18, there’s a presentation by media historian Robin Oppenheimer called "Maximal Art: The Origins and Aesthetics of West Coast Light Shows" and a film by Ronald Nemeth documenting a week of performances in 1966 by Andy Warhol’s Exploding Plastic Inevitable with The Velvet Underground. Also at 8 pm. Also at the MFAH. Also $10.
