Having completed the Rape of the Sabine Women, Arthouse in Austin moves on to empire building: Liz Glynn’s 24 Hour Roman Reconstruction Project begins tonight. Executed by an all volunteer "coalition of the willing" (sign up!) over a period of 24 hours, a model version of the ancient city will evolve from a few huts to imperial splendor and be destroyed by the Visigoths between midnight Friday, September 25 and midnight Saturday the 26th. This is the third time Glynn has rebuilt Rome, first at Ex-Texan Mark Allen’s Machine Project in Los Angeles, then again in The Generational: Younger Than Jesus show at the New Museum in New York.
