Rome has been sacked, and Arthouse, Austin is going to rebuild, this time with a new $5 million facelift and expansion like an illuminated computer punchcard, scheduled to be finished in 2001, the org’s centennial. Leveraging the bust in the construction industry, Arthouse’s building at 700 Congress Ave. will triple its current space, adding new galleries, two studios, a screening room and a multipurpose rooftop venue for art, film, and special events.
