A 10-foot bronze vaquero is taking shape, ready for placement on a plinth at North Main Street and Central Avenue in Fort Worth. "Co-sculpted" by Detroit artist David Newton and Dallas sculptor Tomás Bustos the $240,000 "icon of Mexican-American heritage" has been in the works for 15 years and is a public-private partnership between Fort Worth Public Art and the Vaquero Group, which raised $125,000 for the project.
