The Angelika Film Center, one of Houston’s two for-profit venues for independent films, closed last week. The chain, which had been at Bayou Place in downtown Houston for 13 years closed abruptly after a lingering malaise, leaving a behind a schedule of films that may or may not ever appear here. Marian Luntz, the Museum of Fine Arts’ curator of film and video, said the museum is looking at ways to rearrange its schedule in hopes of bringing some films to Houston that might otherwise not make it. Representatives of the Angelika said they "began actively pursuing alternative cinema locations in Houston" on Monday.
