On January 28 and 29, the Western Artists of America (like the WWF for wrestling!)will be holding their auction and exhibition at the Pearce Museum at Navarro College in Corsicana. 150 works of art by 40 of the country’s top Western artists will be on display for six weeks. Friday night will be the art auction from 6-8 p.m.; on Saturday, the WAA is holding an autograph party to meet the artists followed by an Artists’ Quick Draw Competition where WAA artists mentor college art students with all proceeds going to the Pearce Museum. The WAA event wraps up on Saturday night with the gala Western Artists of America Awards Dinner hosted by Bob Boze Bell of True West Magazine. The Pearce Museum collects documents, artifacts, and photographs related directly to the American Civil War and works of art depicting the historic and modern American West.
