A memorial celebration of the life of Peter Marzio, former director of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, was held Sunday at the museum, with an overflow crowd in attendance to honor the memory of the man who grew the MFAH into the sprawling behemoth it has become. According to the Chronicle’s Douglas Britt, the crowd included museum trustees, civic and business leaders, philanthropists, and art types including former MFAH director Philippe de Montebello, who praised Marzio for creating a world-class museum, and starchitect Rafael Moneo who designed the MFAH’s latest, greatest building.
