I don’t know how this stuff gets out into the collective creative unconscious but I think I like it.
Adam Silverman’s amazing pottery at Peel Gallery is apparently channeling diseases of the skin from a 1940’s medical textbook. It’s like mid-century art pottery run amok. The effect is both repulsive and attractive and I wish I could afford one.

Meanwhile at The Joanna, Hunting Prize winner, Lane Hagood is displaying a leper colony of statuary on the gallery’s fireplace mantle. Featuring altered classical bric-a-brac, they’re really funny. Spray foam never looked so good.
Let’s just hope that the Hunting Prize doesn’t take his 50 grand back. The award, sponsored by global oil-services company Hunting PLC, is always presented a gala marked by the un-ironic use of Greek statuary, er, guys in Speedos painted gold to look like statues.
