Ex-Texan curator and ex-longtime MFAH staffer Janet Landay abruptly left her new post as executive director of the American Association of Museum Directors. Her resignation was announced Monday in an email to AAMD memebers, sparking speculation about what went wrong. Landay was appointed to the job in February of 2009. From 1990 to 2003, she worked at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, where she served as the Curator of Exhibitions and ubiquitous assistant to Director the late Peter Marzio. Landay will remain “Consulting Director” at AAMD until May 1.
