A recent segment of the popular PBS series Antiques Roadshow featured a painting by Texas most insider outsider artist, Forrest Bess. The owner, an acquaintance of Bess’ during his fish-camp years, got the piece as a wedding present, and recounts several interesting anecdotes about Bess before being stunned by the whopping $75,000 guestimate of the tiny, awkward painting’s potential value. Robert Boyd’s Great God Pan is Dead blog, who always hears things before I do, and is my continual source of interesting information, was apparently tipped off to this particular tidbit by Scott Gilbert.
