Fresh Arts’ Annual Winter Holiday Art Market (WHAM) gets bigger every year and there is only one week left for artists to apply to participate in this year’s late November juried event. Table space goes to the usual crafters (both artisan and peculiar), but many painters, photographers, and printmakers also participate, as well as the occasional fun oddity like Bill’s Junk.
On the Fresh Arts web page with the WHAM information and application form, they also list average sales for the past four years. Last year’s average was a record-breaking $1,320 for three long days of work—not exactly making art moguls, but might be worth the party atmosphere and the exposure.

Thank you so much for promoting our call for submissions- we appreciate it! We attempt to post sales averages to be as transparent as possible about what artists can expect from participation. (All too often, the systems through which artists sell their work are murky at best.) Since we are only tracking what happens over the weekend, our figures only represent a small portion of the event’s impact. Almost invariably, we hear that WHAM translates to ongoing sales and commissions throughout the year– sales which are never reported to us. In our attempt to highlight and provide opportunities for artists to generate income, we endeavor to host an accessible event featuring a wide variety of local and unrepresented artists– at a variety of price points. It’s not for everyone, but it’s worked out very well for many. Thank you, again, for your support.
