Texans Embrace the Latin American Art “Trend”

There are those who would like to learn more about Latin American art and then there are those who would like to give it all a big old bear hug. For the latter, the Dallas Art Dealers Association (DADA) is presenting a panel discussion called “Embracing Latin American Art.” Is this true affection or a passing fad? In its press release, the Houston Fine Art Fair (HFAF) refers to Latin American art as “a genre currently trending in Houston.”

Texas already has an incredible array of internationally recognized museums, galleries, and curators who have been showing Latin American art for decades, a fact which will likely be discussed at DADA’s event on September 17 with moderator Catherine Cuellar and panelists Tomás Bustos, Johannes Boekhoudt, Guillermo Cardenas, Viola Delgado and Benjamin Lima (for more info and tickets, go here). And HFAF is indeed featuring an impressive 33 Latin American art dealers (of the record-breaking 83 dealers at the fair), so drop by the George R. Brown Convention Center September 19-22 and embrace the trend.
