If you haven’t already heard, we’re bringing the legendary southern California artist Robert Irwin to Houston on October 17th, for a conversation with Michael Govan, the director of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). Irwin, who is 87, has had a huge year, with a seminal exhibition at Dia:Beacon (where he designed the grounds and architecture in 2003), and a show that recently opened at White Cube in London.
We invite your questions for a Q&A after the talk. Email us at [email protected] and your question could be answered by the man himself! To get the ball rolling, here are a few theoretical examples:
- How does your work differ from Minimalism?
- Do you ever make art without considering architecture, or is that always in the mix?
- You’ve said that less is more when less is the sum total of more, so will the square root of more ever be less than less?
- Boxing match between Robert Irwin and James Turrell: who wins?
The talk is free and open to the public. Register here and plan to come early: seating will be first come, first served for registered attendees!
