Houston: How Do Curators Decide What to Show?

Artadia, the national seven-city non-profit that gives out merit-based cash awards to artists, is holding a Texas-based conversation tomorrow night at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston. Miki Garcia, the director of the MCA Santa Barbara “will present a talk focused on the process of curatorial decision making within a contemporary art institution. She will discuss a few upcoming exhibitions at the MCA Santa Barbara and her role in organizing the projects as Chief Curator and Director.”

This is part of Artadia’s Art & Dialogue series, which takes place throughout the year in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Houston, New York, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. Artadia, now in its 15th year, has given $3 million “to more than 300 artists throughout its participating award cities… . Over 20,000 artists have applied for the Artadia Awards program.”
