Today, April 10, at 4PM, Texas Gallery in Houston will host a poetry reading by Raphael Rubinstein. During the event, Rubinstein will read his latest poem, A Geniza, which was published in an artist book-like format comprised of 108 individually printed text fragments. The fragments address the “history of Cairo as a multi-ethnic, cosmopolitan and contested site,” and will be read in a random order.
Houstonians know Rubinstein for his position as professor of critical studies at the University of Houston, where he teaches every spring. He also recently served as the editor of the Art Lies section of the Houston-based literary publication Gulf Coast. He is currently a contributing editor for Art in America.
