The National Endowment for the Arts has announced its 2016 grants to arts organizations. In addition to a number of performing arts organizations that received NEA funding, the following Texas-based arts groups received grants (for a full list of grantees, go here):
Centro Cultural Aztlan, San Antonio
$15,000 to support a series of community art projects, such as visual arts exhibitions, community discussions, literary
events, and performances.
Contemporary Art for San Antonio (aka Blue Star Contemporary)
$15,000 to support an exhibition series and related public programming.
The Contemporary Austin
$35,000 to support the development of the Betty and Edward Marcus Sculpture Park at Laguna Gloria.
Dallas Museum of Art
$20,000 to support Making Friends: A Digital, Data-driven Approach to Community Outreach.
DiverseWorks, Houston
$25,000 to support the DiverseDialogues Series.
Glasstire
$15,000 to support the development of content.
Houston Arts Alliance
$45,000 to support the Folklife and Traditional Arts Programming.
Mexic-Arte Museum, Austin
$20,000 to support their Emerging Artists Exhibition Program Series.
National Association of Latino Arts and Culture, San Antonio
$40,000 to support professional development activities for arts administrators.
Project Row Houses, Houston
$15,000 to support a study that will evaluate the effectiveness of local artists and community-based arts organizations in engaging a group of economically-disadvantaged residents in Houston.

$15,000 to support Dia de los Muertos Projects.
Southwest School of Art, San Antonio
$15,000 to support Kids Initiating Design Solutions.
Spacetaker (aka Fresh Arts), Houston
$15,000 to support professional development workshops for artists and arts organizations in Texas.
Texas Folklife Resources, Austin
$44,000 to support the apprenticeships in the Folk & Traditional Arts program;
$40,000 to support Stories from Deep in the Heart, a folklore and radio journalism training program.
University of Texas at Austin
$45,000 to support Placeholder, a project comprised of an installation, exhibition, and catalogue.
Voices Breaking Boundaries, Houston
$15,000 to support the Collapsing Lines series.
