Dennis Nance
The Galveston Arts Center has been on a multi-month search for a new curator to replace Clint Willour, who is retiring after 25 years with the organization. Earlier today, the GAC announced that Dennis Nance will be filling Willour’s shoes.
Nance has worked as the Exhibitions and Programming Director at Lawndale Art Center for the past nine years. He has also been involved in mentoring more than twenty artists that have come through the Lawndale Artist Studio Program. Additionally, Nance has shown his own work at the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, BOX 13 ArtSpace, and the Menil Collection Bookstore. Mr. Nance is extremely knowledgeable of Texas artists and current trends in contemporary art; in addition, he has extensive experience with non-profit arts organizations, art grantsmanship, and marketing. Mr. Nance’s curatorial focus has been concentrated on artist-centric programming that expands the understanding and appreciation of contemporary practices by artists.

I cannot imagine a better choice to fill the shoes that Clint Willour has worn so well over the years. Congratulations Dennis – you will surely thrive in this new role!
