The Houston Cinema Arts Festival kicks off next week (November 10-17) with tons of interesting looking films. But, for film junkies who just can’t wait, the Rockport Film Festival (November 3-5) starts today!
The Rockport Center for the Arts (RCA), who organizes the festival, has thrown out the slogan, “International in Scope, Local in Flavor,” and it’s true. The Rockport festival is much heavier on Southern goofiness. It’s smaller in scope, but that just makes it easier to get in some beach, sun, and fishing time.
Both film festivals are featuring the recent documentary, Honky Tonk Heaven, about Austin’s world famous dance hall, The Broken Spoke. Here’s a trailer:
