On April 2, 2022, Buffalo Bayou Partnership (BBP) and Aurora Picture Show will present Night Light, a free evening of site-specific, large-scale video art along a 3/4 mile stretch of the Buffalo Bayou East trails.
The projections will be featured at Guadalupe Plaza, the Gravel Silos, and the underside of a freeway overpass. These three important locations along the bayou, which were identified in the BBP’s 2019 Master Plan, are a part of a trail that will be revitalized with new green spaces, industrial sites, and gathering spots. Shaped over two years and through conversations with residents, community groups, and other stakeholders, the plan details BBP’s vision for transforming Buffalo Bayou East.
Houston artists Julia Barbosa-Landois, Marcelese Cooper, and Input/Output, have each created experimental video works which respond to the unique locations and touch on themes of water and industry.
In a press release, Karen Farber, BBP’s Vice President of External Affairs said, “We are thrilled to welcome community members to this free celebration on Buffalo Bayou. Night Light is an example of how we plan to activate the waterfront with exciting, unique art for all to experience and enjoy.”
Night Light will be on view from 7:30 to 10:00 pm on Saturday, April 2, 2022. Attendees are invited to travel the paved pathways by bike or on foot and enjoy music, food, and vendor booths stationed between the projection sites. The event is free, but registration is encouraged.
